Maleyali Jothyali review....

Maleyali Jothyali review....Maleyali Jothyali review....

First of all, if you are a ganesh hater, dont watch this movie. Because you will hate him even more. This film can also be called "MM-2". Here also Ganesh's name is Preetam, he woes girls, he dances in rains, he sings Sonu Nigam songs, he says the same dialogues throughout the film, he cries for the loss of his dear ones, etc etc.... But one element is missing.. that is Yograj Bhat..No comparisons between the dialogues of two movies.... To say in Uppi's style, its like comparing Mountbatten and maramma....

But if you like Ganesh and if you were waiting for this flick, then my review goes like this... Preetam is a happy go lucky boy who at last passes his PU(Damn, memories of MM haunted me again). To escape from his father who wants him to marry, he goes to Sakaleshpur. There he finds 2 girls. He loves one girl, but the other loves him. After some scenes and songs, he loves the second girl, but first one starts loving him.... Raama, right from Udayakumar, Rajkumar, Amitabh Bachchan era, we have seen movies like this. So what makes this movie watchable??? Ganesh and Harikrishna.. Though you may not like Ganesh's stereotype role, you will be enjoying his witty one liners and his mannerisms.. And songs are just awesome.. Especially, Nee Sanihake bandare haunts you for a long time... And dialogues are very ordinary. Devashetty Mahesh should now realize that commenting on some others is very easy( He was the guy who severly critisized galipata and its dialogues) And heroines are cute. Acting is okay. Preetam Gubbi's direction is also okayish effort. No strong storyline. Depends heavily on Ganesh's dialogues. Even Yograj Bhat depends on dialogues, but he makes sure that those dialogues have the necessary punch.

And yes, Gubbi has come up with a new disease to his heroine.. Even his Haage Summane heroine was suffering from a strange ailment. Wow! What consistency..! So concluding, I had decided earlier that I would not compare this with MM, but the film has forced me to do so. this is not a must watch but if you are a movie buff who wants to support good swamake movies, then this is highly watchable...My rating: (2.5/5).

Message to Ganesh: Please come up with a new type of role or else you will be lost...

Puneeth Rajkumar and Suriya Sivkumar... Amazingly similar...!

Well I have been watching movies of both these superstars. And I am amazed by the way they constantly churn out hits after hits. Both of them had their fathers working in the industry before they came. Of course, Rajkumar was far more influential than Sivakumar. But both these sons have carved a niche for themselves and now, they are the hot properties and in the wanted list of all the leading producers and directors. The only difference is that Puneeth is more of a mass hero and has a huge fan following among the mass audience, while Suriya being very handsome, is the darling of kids and women. But there has been a constant attempt by both these men to change their image. One such attempt was Puneeth's "Milana", where he donned the role of a faithful husband. The movie which was initially written off by most of the people was a surprise hit and ran for over 1 year in Bangalore. It was even dubbed to Malayalam. And coming to Suriya, his pakka commercial "Ayan" is the only high grosser in 2009! as far as Kollywood is concerned. Most expected movies like Padikkadhavan,Kandasamy etc proved to be craps. Movies like Nadodigal, Unnai Pol Oruvan got rave reviews, but could not even come near " Ayan" in terms of collections.

And the similarity do not end here. Puneeth's recent Raj The Showman- the much awaited costlist Kannada movie proved to be a damp squib. And now its Suriya's turn. Adhavan- his first movie with the veteran KSRavikumar has proved to be a feast for Vijay and Ajith fans because now they have got something to mock at Suriya...!!!!!!!!!!!

But none of the less, both of them have some promising movies in their kitty. Our job is to look forward to them.

All the best!Puneeth and Suriya!!

Champions League?A success?

Well a major cricket tournament is going on in India without creating much ripples. Thats Champions League T20. Its namesake in soccer is the most watched event in the planet. But here it has failed to grab eyeballs. Its not that surprising because most of the teams are non-Indian and do not have a fan base here. And the early exit of all the 3 IPL teams have not helped the cause either. The so called saviour of Indian cricket, His Excellency, Mr.Lalit Modi will certainly not be a happy man at the end of this event. His life ambition of vanishing the inter nation tournaments and make the players join money spinning franchisees has taken a severe blow. Well, this is, of course, the maiden edition of CL-T20. But looking at the eye dazzling success of IPL 1 and 2, this is nowhere near the best. Its as though looking at the success of Mungaru Male and hoping all Bhat's films to be like it. Most of the matches being watched in empty stadiums is a sorry sight. All the best for next edition Sir. IPL was working well for you. Did you need this disaster??

Watson does it for Australia

Shane Watson blasted his second successive hundred to help Australia retain the ICC Champions Trophy, beating New Zealand .

Watson hit an unbeaten 129-ball 105 (10X4, 4X6) and starred in a 128-run stand with Cameron White (62) under tremendous pressure as Australia, chasing 201 against New Zealand's never-say-die pacers, overcame a wobbly start to reach 206 for four in 45.2 overs.

Earlier, a rudderless New Zealand, sans their injured skipper Daniel Vettori, fumbled and faltered their way to 200 for nine.

The Kiwis had just two decent partnerships in their innings but Martin Guptill (40) and Aaron Redmond (26) took 15.1 overs to raise 61 runs for the second wicket, while Neil Broom (37) and James Franklin (33) added 65 in 14.1 overs, which underlined their struggle in the middle.

For Australia, Nathan Hauritz claimed three for 37.

Reaction from New Zealand Cricket chief executive

Considering Australia's batting might, the match seemed to have all the ingredients of a lop-sided show but Shane Bond and Kyle Mills injected drama by dealing early blows that jolted Australia out of any complacency they had.

Click here to follow all the action as it unfolded

Bond's second delivery removed Tim Paine (1) and Mills then trapped in-form Ricky Ponting (1) in the next over to reduce Australia to six for two wickets inside three overs.

And New Zealand pacers maintained the same pressure as Australia crawled to 34 for two after 15 overs, an austerity they are not accustomed to.

Watson and White did not panic and ran hard between wickets, while helping themselves to the occasional boundary.

Reaction from Australia captain Ricky Ponting

The duo paced the chase with utmost maturity, first weathering the crisis and then opening up.

Mills eventually returned to remove White but the stand had yielded 128 precious runs by then and even Michael Hussey's (11) wicket came too late as Australia had pocketed the match by then.

Mansare Review

Just saw Manasare. Here is my review.

Ace director Yogaraj Bhat has struck gold again with his latest venture Manasare. After the heavy success of his previous two films, we were eager to see whether he has retained his old charm. And believe me, he mesmerizes you, once again.

Manasare revolves around the protagonist Diganth, who is taunted by his family and the society as an abnormal person. Adding to his woes, he is mistakenly taken to a mental hospital. Just as he is about to escape from it, he sees Andrita Ray, who is suffering from Dementia. And i think i don't have to explain what happens next. Whether Diganth succeeds in his love venture forms the rest of the story.

Though the story is very simple, the presentation impresses. Dialogues are the USP of this movies. And Raju Talikote, a theater artist in North Karnataka deserves a special mention. Each and every dialogue of his evokes laughter. And Diganth. This is his best film till date. Though, we find some of his dialogues resembling the epic"Mungaru Male", overall his role is very enjoyable. Andrita has a short and sweet role. YB has succeeded in extracting good work from other artists.

As far as the music is concerned, Manomurthy has again given some superb tunes. All the songs are brilliant. Especially "Ello Maleyagide" haunts you for a very long time. Satya Hegde's camera work is awesome.

The only negative thing about this film is, the second half drags a bit and the climax may not be able to impress all. But Yogaraj Bhat has been once again successfull in giving a neat family entertainer.

Go wtach it. Its worth your hard earned money.

My rating: 4/5

India Out of Champions Trophy

Another ICC event. Another first round exit.

Its sort of becoming a normal thing. Apart from the first World T20 and 03 World Cup, India has fared badly in almost all multi-nation events. And coming to this season, which started brilliantly with a "historic" win over Newzealand in their own backyard, has been like a roller-coaster ride with pitiable defeats in World T20 , Champs Trophy and a face saving win in SriLanka.

Mahendra Dhoni s honeymoon with the Indian team is over long back. Somehow the "Midas Touch" he had seems to be vanishing. But you cannot completely blame him as India entered South Africa with an injury hit team. Adding to the woes, the stylish left hander Yuvraj Singh injured his finger. May be he took the advise of coach Gary Kirsten very seriously!!!! So it all depended on the stalwarts Sachin and Dravid to anchor the Indian ship. But thanks to the hapless bowling performance against Pakistan, they had a heavy load on their shoulders, of chasing 300+ under lights. Unfortunately Sachin got a beauty of a delivery from Mohammad Amir and Dravid tried to stay there till the end(he had to, because he ran out Gambhir who was in a good form), it was all in vain. Had Raina stayed for some more time, things would have been very different. But thats what cricket is. There is no room for if s and but s. And Pakistan also played their best cricket. They were deserving winners.

Also this Champs Trophy threw a strange situation, where India needed Pakistan to win against Australia, so that the former could have a chance to make it to the semis. Even though Pakistan tried their best to loose, somehow they managed to take the match till the last ball. And at last they succeeded in keeping India away from the final four.

So this is really a testing time for all the youngsters, who were just few months ago,"young stars". Raina, Ishanth, RP have a long way to go before they cement their places in the team. Even Dravid needs to improve his strike rate.

This loss is not that hurting, atleast to the fans. As we all knew India had very little chance because of the injuries. The only positive thing is we now dont have to waste another day of our life, yawning and watching the semifinal in empty stadiums of SA.
